Gokta Falls in northern Peru is 771 meters high, making it the third highest waterfall in the world. It is divided into two parts – upper – 230 m high and lower – 541 m. The waterfall is one of the famous attractions in Peru, discovered only in 2006. The locals did not announce the existence of the waterfall because they feared the curse of the beautiful blonde sea a mermaid living in its waters. To reach the top of the waterfall, start from the village of San Pablo, and climb a fairly steep path. To get to the bottom of the waterfall, start from Cocachimba, go through an extremely beautiful mountain landscape.
